MICHAEL CACNIO celebrates fifteen years in art

At year’s end, one gives thanks for a bountiful harvest or a good year. In this current exhibition, Michael Cacnio returns to Singapore for the year-end holiday season to celebrate fifteen illustrious years in art. His skillful executions in brass animate his figures and their actions, making for memorable dynamic compositions that charm as well as intrigue.

A highlight of the show is a series of collaborations that Michael has made with both established and emerging artists in the Philippines. Working with other artists in the Interaction series has challenged the sculptor to devise original and engaging solutions to the contributions of his collaborative partners. And appropriate to the season, a new series of angels herald the approach of Christmas, as the sculptor wields his oxyacetylene blowtorch in figurative acclamation and thanksgiving.

    Nearly twenty years in the art scene, TOYM (The Outstanding Young Men) Philippines 2006 awardee Michael Cacnio is considered to be one of the country’s finest brass sculptors today.
